Where is the ideal place to stay for my skiing holiday?

Why choose Le Grand Bornand ?

Our advice to help you make your choice

Is le Grand-Bornand Village your choice for your next holiday destination? But you have never been here before and you don't know what makes our village special. Don't worry, we will guide you in finding the perfect place based on what you are looking for.

I mainly come for downhill skiing.

If you're primarily interested in downhill skiing, consider staying in the upper part of Le Grand-Bornand — Le Grand-Bornand Chinaillon (1,300 metres) — where you'll find the Charmieux and La Floria ski areas. From the newly developed Charmieux area, you'll have direct access to ski lessons, the Charmieux ESF ski school, a beginner’s area with a covered magic carpet, and a sledging zone.

The rental shops located in the Outalays and L’Envers du Chinaillon areas are the closest to the Charmieux sector.
The Outalays area is set on a slope along the Serpentine piste, which leads down to the covered conveyor belt. However, this area is quite far from the centre of Chinaillon and its shops, so you'll need to take the shuttle bus for any shopping or services.

The residences in the L’Envers du Chinaillon area, on the other hand, are ideally located between the Chinaillon centre and the downhill ski slopes.

La Mulaterie and Venay area

The Mulaterie and Venay areas are closer to the Floria and Châtelet chairlifts (a few hundred metres away) and not far from the Chinaillon centre either. From these residences, you can also cross a small bridge and walk uphill a little to reach the Mulaterie green run, which descends to the Châtelet chairlifts.

Le Grand-Bornand Village

From the lower part of Le Grand-Bornand Village (1,000 m), 6 km below Le Chinaillon, two cable cars take you up to the downhill skiing area: Le Rosay and La Joyère. To get back down from the cable cars, there is a red run, but you can also choose to take the cable cars back down to the village.
At the top of the Rosay gondola lift, you will arrive at the ski area, where you will find the meeting points for ski lessons, a sledrun, a beginners' area with a covered carpet lift and adapted slopes, numerous restaurants, a picnic area, and more.
If you choose accommodation in the lower part of Le Grand-Bornand Village (1,000 m), opt for the Pont de Suize/Le Terret and Centre Village areas, which are close to the cable cars.
